Miya Johnson is currently enriching her deep-seated passion for counseling as a master's student at Lamar University, pursuing a degree in Counseling and Development (M.Ed.). With foundational qualifications, including an Associate in Applied Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree, Miya has made significant strides since relocating from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Houston in 2020. She looks forward to acquiring dual licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) upon graduation.

Renowned among peers for her empathy and ardent advocacy for mental health, Miya is eager to apply an integrative methodology—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy—to support individuals, families, couples, and parents. Miya is also known for her love of learning and is always looking for opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills in counseling.

Beyond her academic ambitions of pursuing a PsyD in Behavioral Psychology post-master's, Miya finds joy as the devoted dog mom to Tony the Chiweenie. In her leisure time, she immerses herself in gardening and tackling DIY home improvement projects. Each garden bloom and refurbished space marks a step toward nurturing her personal and professional growth.
